PTFE + MICA MINERAL FILLED

PTFE (PolyTetraFluoroEthylene) is a fluorocarbon-based polymer also known throughout the industry as Dupont’s brand name Teflon®. Several other manufacturers make their own brands of PTFE which can often be used as substitute material. This fluoroplastic family offers plastics with high chemical resistance, low and high temperature capability, resistance to weathering, low friction, electrical and thermal insulation, and “slipperiness.”
PTFE Filled
PTFE filled with 5% to 10% mica provides a unique blend of strength and dimensional stability along with an excellent wear enhancing additive technology. This product provides excellent wear and stability in addition to FDA compliance.
Fluorosint® is a proprietary mixture in which synthetically manufactured mica is chemically linked to PTFE. This bonding results in properties not normally attainable in reinforced PTFE. Fluorosint® grades offer an excellent combination of low frictional properties, dimensional stability, excellent chemical resistance, and continuous use temperature of 500°F (260°C). Compared with PTFE, it has higher load carrying capability, 1/9 of the deformation under load, and a lower coefficient of thermal expansion.
FLUOROSINT GRADES
Fluorosint® 500 has nine times greater resistance to deformation under load than unfilled PTFE. Its coefficient of linear thermal expansion (CLTE) approaches the expansion rate of aluminum and is 1/5 that of PTFE — often eliminating fit and clearance problems. It is 1/3 harder than PTFE, has better wear characteristics, and maintains low frictional properties. Fluorosint ® 500 is also non-abrasive to most mating materials.
Fluorosint® 207’s unmatched dimensional stability, excellent creep resistance and white color uniquely position this material to serve FDA regulated applications. It is non-permeable in steam and complies with FDA regulation 21 CFR 175.300. It’s relative wear rate is 1/20 the rate of PTFE below 300°F (150°C). The combination of good mechanical performance and its inherent outstanding chemical and hydrolysis resistance, Fluorosint® 207 opens numerous application possibilities in food, pharmaceutical, and medical industries.
